FC25/056 Motion from Councillor Coxon
Gainsborough Big Clean Up
Lincolnshire Independent Gainsborough Town Councillors Coxon and Key had a walkaround on Friday 16/08/24 in the uphill area of Gainsborough. Attendees included the Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones, a representative of Acis, a PCSO Glen Pachett and WLDC Councillors Young and Rollings. This walkaround was organised by Cllr Nick Coxon.
After a measured walkaround, and discussion around who had responsibility for what areas and how to tackle them, some being really badly littered and fly-tipping on others.
We then discussed if there was a possibility of working together to tackle some of these issues, hence the Gainsborough Big Clean up tag.
We would ask this Council to support the GTC – WLDC – ACIS – PCC and the Police look into a Joint agreement to see if it can be achieved and what form it could take.
Also whilst we were talking to the PCC Marc Jones said he could inquire about getting some help from what used to be known as Community Payback Team, and we would seek to get the Public involved with volunteer Litter-picking.
Without Interest from GTC, we think that other entities will probably not support this proposal, we would hope to do most areas of Gainsborough. Timewise will depend on what the other entities can provide if they agree to participate.
Seconded Councillor Paul Key
