Works will commence on Tuesday 26th March 2024 to repair leaks and repair/replace defective taps in the Gainsborough General Cemetery.

This was after the Council were instructed to switch off all taps while an undergound leak was being traced.

Works are expected to take a week.

26th March 2024 Update

Work to reinstate the Cemetery taps have commenced today, the current hopes are that work will be done prior to the Easter break, subject to everything going to plan and no unforeseen circumstances arising.

28th March 2024 Update

Regarding Gainsborough General Cemetery’s taps, unfortunately we must announce that the taps will not be fully repaired and functional for the upcoming Easter weekend.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the Council is in the hands of the plumbing contractor who has been unable to complete the repairs due to finding unforseen additional works.

24th May 2024 Update

Gainsborough Town Council is pleased to announce that following the detection of a number of leaks, the water supply has been turned back on in the General Cemetery.

However, 2 standpipes are still not working and this is still under investigation.

In response to a number of suggestions, the Council has installed easier to use taps that require a soft push to activate.

Please note, there will be periods in the coming weeks when the standpipes will be turned off as further leak investigations continue.
