Due to concerns from our local community, we wanted to provide clarification regarding the removal of Christmas items from Cemeteries within Gainsborough – in this case we’re specifically referring to Christmas wreaths and Christmas items that have been placed on trees in the Cemeteries.
We apologise for any distress caused, the original post was aimed to provide advanced notice that Christmas items are scheduled for removal to allow for regular Cemetery maintenance to be carried out. Gainsborough Town Council do their utmost to prevent damage to all personal items within the Cemetery however, wreaths and items that are left within maintained areas do pose issues when regular maintenance commences post February.
The removal of Christmas items is an annual process and further information is contained within the Gainsborough Town Council’s Cemeteries Guidance Notes on Practices and Regulations, point 17.20.
