Vacancy of Councillor for the North West Ward

GAINSBOROUGH TOWN COUNCIL

VACANCY OF COUNCILLOR FOR THE NORTH WEST WARD

There is currently a vacancy on the Council and having been through the prescribed procedure, no election has been requested.

The vacancy will therefore now be filled by the co-option process at a meeting of the Town Council on Tuesday 1 July 2025.

Should anyone wish to be considered for this vacancy they should complete the application form and send to the Council at the address below, by no later than Monday 30 June 2025. 

Section 79(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that, unless disqualified, a person is qualified to be co-opted as a local councillor if they are over 18, a qualifying British, Commonwealth or other European Union Citizen on the day of their selection and:

  1. Is on the electoral register for one of the wards of Gainsborough Town Council; or
  2. lived either in the parish of Gainsborough, or within three miles of its boundary, for at least a year; or
  3. is owner or tenant of land in the parish of Gainsborough for at least a year; or
  4. your only or main place of work in the parish of Gainsborough for at least a year; or
